Membership Fees & Affiliation
One annual affiliation connects students and advisors to both Illinois HOSA and National HOSA.
$20
Annual membership fee
$10 supports National HOSA and $10 supports Illinois HOSA for each student and advisor.
5 + 1
An active chapter
The minimum required to start a HOSA chapter: 5 members and a chapter advisor. Every member and advisor pays the affiliation fee.
Nov 1
Membership deadline
Membership must be entered by the chapter's advisor on the HOSA CMS System by November 1.
Affiliation forms sent
Affiliation forms must be submitted by the chapter's advisor to illinoishosa32@gmail.com by November 1.
Membership is registered by your advisor through your school. If your school doesn't have a chapter yet, one can be started at any point in the year. In order to access the HOSA member experience and perks, membership must be submitted by November 1st.
Student divisions
Three Membership Levels. One Illinois HOSA.
Your school level determines your membership division and competitive event pathway. Every student affiliates through a local chapter and chapter advisor.

Middle School
Students affiliated through a middle school chapter.
Members may compete in a total of two listed Middle School events. The events must be in different categories.

Secondary
Students affiliated through a secondary school chapter.
Members compete through Regional/Preliminaries and may enter one event in each competitive event category.

Postsecondary/Collegiate
Students affiliated through a postsecondary or collegiate chapter.
Members compete through Regional/Preliminaries and may enter one event in each competitive event category.

How the Year Runs
One program year, five fixed points. Everything else is built around them.

Your advisor registers the chapter and adds members for the program year.

FLC
The Fall Leadership Conference: workshops, officer sessions, and your first look at the state.
Winter
Prepare
Study your event guidelines, build your team, and run practice rounds with your advisor.

Qualifying members represent Illinois at the International Leadership Conference.

Competitive Event Program
Build Skills. Test Them. Be Recognized.
Competitive events recognize skills developed through classroom instruction, related job training, leadership, teamwork, and HOSA activities. Health professionals help evaluate members and teams against established performance standards.

Before competition
- Members must be affiliated and paired with their event area and partners by November 1.
- Illinois competitors participate in Regional/Preliminaries and Round 1 at their home school, online. Qualified Members participate in Round 2 at the State Leadership Conference.
- Use IL HOSA guidelines for Regional/Preliminaries and the State Leadership Conference; use National HOSA guidelines for ILC.
Event limits
- Middle School members may enter two listed events, and they must be in different categories.
- Secondary and Postsecondary/Collegiate members may enter one event in each category.
- Some events are invitation-only, officer-specific, State Leadership Conference-only, or ILC-only. Check the current Illinois event page before preparing.

State officers are elected by the membership at the State Leadership Conference. If you want the biggest room Illinois HOSA can put you in, this is it.
Be an affiliated Illinois HOSA member in good standing.
Have your chapter advisor's written endorsement.
Maintain the academic standing your school requires.
Commit to the full one-year term and its travel.

Application deadline
February 1
Candidate materials are due to the State Officer Coordinator ahead of the State Leadership Conference. Confirm the current program-year date with your advisor.
Endorsement from your chapter advisor is required.
